Poser Setup Room & OBJ2CR2

Postby viciouscircle » Sat Nov 07, 2009 3:33 pm

Has anyone ever able to deal with it? I have a somewhat complex (lets say 30k polys) piece of clothing i want to make conforming. Then i head to the poser setup room and the nightmare starts... Some faces cant be selected. Its a painful job. ¿Does any of you have used the OBJ2CR2 by Philc? It seems a one click thingy that may work.

Never used it. I cut all my groups inside Maya before rigging, then have a cleaned up "starter" or "dev" rig saved of the target figure. Load the obj into Poser, go to the setup room, then load in the dev rig; go back to the Pose room from there and start tweaking jp's. :)

I think modellers are a breed from another planet... dont use maya, just output this from blender lets see if it has something similar. Everything seems too simple and easy until you get your hands on the job and discover that you dont only have to have a good idea...

Les, I believe right here is another good tutorial video! LOL I see this topic almost as much as how to do full body morphs. Basically just do a camtasia capture of your next project and voice over it. LOL

I think the next one will be dealing with FBM's, actually, however clothing development and figure rigging may be hot on it's heels.

All good topics as well, but keep the figure creation on the list. Not a lot of info on that subject out there. Most of what is out there is the PHI method.

Just a request on my part, don't take me as being pushy. LOL

I've used OBJ2CR2 and swear by it. It's easy to use once you get a little practiced at it.

You make your mesh and import it into poser. It has to line up with the figure when it's absolutely zeroed.

Call up a template from the OBJ2CR2 props folder that works for the figure. NOTE: You can MAKE your own templates for ANY figure, even ones you MADE yourself. Once you have a template you want to reuse, save it to the library. This saves tons of time because you DON'T ever have to repeat this step again!

Philc has tutorials on how to adapt OBJ2CR2 at his site: http://www.philc.net/store_Python_utilities.php

Select the mesh you want as a conformer and click run. NOTE: No grouping need apply! You don't have to do any grouping, the OBJ2CR2 does it automatically. Run it.

BAM! You have a new figure. You might need to tweak JPs because the original figure's JP might be so tight they just won't work for clothes.
I can't save the world. I CAN save money on Poser stuff. Buy stuff here! LOLOLOLOLOL
Ideas are free. Time to act on them is priceless.

joelglaine has pretty much said it all. If you need further, more specific information please let me know. I'm always happy to respond.

PhilC, have you never thinked to do a similar software for DAZ, or make it in a stand alone software?
